This utility company headquarters building, designed and built by Quinn Company, features a two storey reception area with curved floating stainless steel stairway set inside a curved glass alcove. The ground floor comprises the customer service area, offices, staff rooms and toilets. The upper floor contains waiting area, offices, toilets and staff areas. The building is designed to Miami-Dade County hurricane wind load requirements and current standards for seismic conditions, energy conservation and efficiency, security, surveillance and access control, zoned central air-conditioning, fire alarm and extinguishing, and complete computer networking. All windows and doors are laminated impact glass and the dual 110v/230v electrical system is backed-up with dual UPS’s and a generator.
This is a green building which includes a DAFS exterior wall system with R21 insulation, Cool Roof reflective roof coating, interior ceiling and wall insulation, laminated glass, downsized air-conditioning utilizing R410A refrigerant, collection of roof water for recycling, PEX water piping system, low water use toilets, solar power ready, use of low VOC materials, high use of natural light, etc. Exterior works such as parking, sidewalks, and utility and drainage systems were included. All millwork and finishes were self performed by QuinnCo.
